Over the past few days there’s one verse that’s been coming to my mind that’s in Luke 18:27 and it says the following;
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. – Luke 18:27
The Impossible in Our Lives
Let’s take God out of the equation for a minute and look at our lives. There’s probably things that you see no solution to. Perhaps you’re experiencing personal hardships or family trouble. Maybe there’s something in your life that you see no exit from. Those things can be labeled as impossible. But this is where God’s supernatural power comes in to play. Jesus told His disciples, “the things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
Our Christian walk isn’t always going to be easy. My Pastor said yesterday, “It’s easy to praise God when there’s blessings.” And it’s true. How many of us don’t find it easy to praise God when life is going great? But what happens when times don’t seem so great? That’s when it’s hard to get a smile out of us. But those moments are beneficial to our lives because our convictions grow and we can also see God’s sovereignty over our lives.
An Unlimited God
It’s important to remember that God is God because He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. God is sovereign meaning He’s not limited by anything or anyone. If he was then He wouldn’t be God. But we should be comforted in knowing that God is all powerful and has everything under His control. Not only that but the Bible teaches us that we have a gracious and merciful God that is calling us to follow Him. That means that we have a God that is actually on our side.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? – Romans 8:31
A God That is For Us and Not Against Us
God is on our side. The enemy would have us believe otherwise but our lives are based on God’s word. One thing we can do when we’re experiencing a bad time or negative thoughts is to look at John 10:10. The word says that the thief came only to steal, kill, and destroy. The devil’s goal is to steal, kill, and destroy. But it says that the Son of Man came to give life and give it abundantly. So any thoughts that we have or trials that we’re experiencing we can weigh on the balance of this verse. If those thoughts are negative and destructive then you easily say that those thoughts are not coming from God, but from the devil himself. Once we can distinguish these attacks we can place our confidence in God.
There’s nothing impossible for God. Maybe you find yourself in a difficult time. Perhaps you feel like no one can relate to you and you don’t know how to get out. But let me tell you that God is mighty to save. This is a daily battle but it’s one that God has already given us the victory in.
Today is a great day to place our confidence in God. God’s word challenges us to get out of the world’s logic and to trust in what God says. The world tells us that there’s things that are simply impossible to overcome. Your problems, your need, your defects all those according to the world can’t be overcome. You might as well accept it and wallow in misery. But God’s word tells you and me that it is possible.
Jesus told Martha, “Haven’t I told you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?” Let’s place our confidence in God. Regardless of your circumstances or how big you feel your problem might be, nothing is impossible for God.
A Way Out in Jesus
Sometimes we feel like there’s no way out but God’s word tells us that there is. Your sin might look great. The giants in your life that are oppressing you might seem great. Your hardships and character defects might look great. But the Bible says that there is someone greater and that’s our God. God bless you and remember that any day that you wake up is God letting you know that He still loves you, still has mercy on you, and is giving you another opportunity. Nothing is impossible for God!
