Six Months in to 2018
Good morning! I hope everyone is having a great day! It’s June 2nd and that means we’re halfway through 2018. Six months have come and gone and I know that all of us have had different experiences. Regardless of how your year is going remember that if we’re alive it’s because we’re still in God’s thoughts. And the year is still young and there’s plenty more to do in life and most importantly for God.
Eyes on Jesus
None of us are perfect, that’s a given. The Bible reminds us in Romans 3:23 that everyone has sinned and falls short of the glory of God. But the Bible also says that it’s through His Spirit that we put to death the works of the flesh. That’s a harsh reality but good news at the same time. The Bible is always pointing us towards Christ; the Perfect One. In various texts it lets us know that we can’t live this life without Him. For example;
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. – John 15:5
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. – Romans 8:13
God always reminds us that only through Him can we live a Spirit-filled life. And the more we connect with God and get intimate with Him, the more the sin in our life will naturally fall away. It’s almost like falling into mud and then trying to clean yourself off by only using your hands. You won’t find much success there and you’ll probably make the mess even worse. But when you jump in to the shower all that mud will naturally come off. In the same manner entering and living in the Presence of God makes all the sin and bad things in our life go away.
Making a sincere attempt at detaching ourselves from worldly things will help us get closer to God. Oil and water don’t mix and God and sin don’t mix. So it’s important to get in to the shower but avoid going back in to the mud. Sometimes there will be mishaps but it’s important that we do our best to remain connected with God. I’ve experienced it myself. When you’re so enamored with God you’re not even thinking about sinning. And when thoughts of sinning do come to your mind, you’ll automatically fight off the urge because you know it will hurt your relationship with God.
Seeking Holiness
Holiness is important. The Bible even says that without holiness no one will see the Lord. I don’t want to sound like Mr. Holy here but it’s important that we make a conscious effort to seek holiness daily. I don’t know what areas you have to give to the Lord but I know I have areas that I need help in. Be it with pornography, drugs, alcohol, you name it we all need help from God.
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. – Luke 18:27
Nothing is impossible for God. Whatever we want to accomplish this year I know that God can do it. The important thing is that we seek God first. We all have desires and goals but if we put all of our focus on those things and neglect God we’ll never be satisfied. If we seek God first and His kingdom then the rest of those things will come by themselves and we’ll enjoy them even more with God as first place in our hearts.
To all my readers, thank you for visiting Revival in Christ! As always I hope you have a great rest of your day. If you enjoy the material I write please consider sharing it with others. Everything that’s done here is to lead people to Christ because He’s the perfect one and the only Savior of the world.
