Trusting God’s Plan

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. – Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us two things: Number one, God has plans with us. And number two, those plans are good. God’s plans for our lives are not to condemn us or have us living in misery but to give us the future we hope for. How many of us hope for a bad future? I don’t think any of us hope to have a bad future. On the contrary I think all of us hope for a good one. The good news is that God also wants a good future for His children.

God’s Fatherly Love

The minute that we received Christ in to our hearts we became children of God where we can cry out, “Abba, Father.” God is our heavenly Father and just like any parent He wants good things for His children. I’ll use myself as an example. I have a six year old son. I love him and I want the best for him. I tell him I love him every chance I get and try to be the best dad that I can be to him. But I’m imperfect and yet I desire the best for my son. Now God who is perfect, how much more does He not want for us? God is good and He loves you with an everlasting love.

Believing When You Don’t See It

This world’s logic says that we have to see things before we can believe them. Thomas had the same attitude when the Apostles told him that Jesus had resurrected. In John 20:24-29 the disciples try to tell Thomas that Jesus has indeed resurrected, but Thomas’ stubbornness tells them that unless he touches Jesus he won’t believe it.

God has told you and I that He has good plans for us. But God also never told us that our lives here on earth would be perfect.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. – John 16:33

Problems are bound to arise and you might be going through a problem right now as we speak. But God wants you to know that His plans for you continue to be good. It doesn’t matter what you’re going through or what you’ve gone through God is still with you and will fulfill His purpose in your life. Remember that trials are the ingredients to your blessing. Through your trials God is molding you and preparing you for the plans that He has for you.

Pushing Forward in Faith

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. – Hebrews 11:1

Faith goes against the world’s logic and it’s what moves us to continue walking with God. God says, “I have good plans for you,” but your eyes might see the opposite. Don’t stop believing. God’s word never comes back empty (Isaiah 55:11). If God said it, He will fulfill it. But it’s dependent on us to walk in faith believing a God who always fulfills His word.
