Here’s a message I wanted to share with you guys. Oftentimes it’s important for us to remind ourselves of God’s promises for our lives. I know that through the teaching of the word God speaks to others and to ourselves as well. So with that being said it’s my hope that whatever I produce here God moves through it and talks to you and I. I recorded this several days back and I wanted to focus on the fact that Jesus promised to always be with you.
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. – Matthew 28:20
Right before Jesus ascended to heaven He declared these words to His disciples. “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” God didn’t say that He would be with you only in the good days or only in the days where everything was going right for you. No. God said He would be with you always. We all go through personal problems. Life is full of them! Sometimes when we put too much focus on our problems we start to disconnect ourselves from God and we start to forget about His promises. Problems that start off small or big ultimately become humongous when we start to focus on them more than we do God. But it’s important that we remember God’s promises to our lives.
Focused on Jesus
I was impacted just a few days ago when I was reading about when Peter walked on water. Read Matthew 14:22-33 when you get a chance. Jesus had told His disciples to get on the ship and to meet Him at the other side while he dismissed the multitudes and went up to pray. It was midnight, the Bible says “the fourth watch of the night,” and a storm began to rumble. The disciples were clearly afraid and more so when they saw someone walking upon the water at a distance. At first they thought it was a ghost until Jesus consoled them saying, “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” In that moment Peter asked Jesus that if it was really Him to allow him to walk over to Him. Jesus said, “come.” So Peter takes one foot off the boat, steps foot on the water, and starts walking towards Christ. But at some point he begins to focus on the storm around him. He loses sight of Jesus and because of this he starts to sink.
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? – Matthew 14:31
This impacted me the other day because it lets me know that we can do great things if we keep our focus on Jesus. The minute we begin to lose focus, however, we start to sink. It’s a daily battle but one Jesus already won for us. Let’s focus on this specific promise, “I will be with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Let’s ingrain it into our minds that God doesn’t lie because He is faithful.
