What’s up everyone! Today I just wanted to touch on a quick topic. I know my consistency here has been terrible and I need to work on fixing my bad habits. These past few months have been somewhat of a learning experience. Sometimes you get so close to throwing in the towel but you come to the realization that you’re not going to be satisfied without God. And I’m just thankful for the opportunity that God has given me. The opportunity to turn away from sin and come to Christ is open to everyone. If you’re breathing there’s hope.
Finding Hope in our Imperfections
As human beings we’re not perfect. Sometimes I wish I was! I look back on my early days as a Christian when I was in my first love and I wish I had continued that experience. I’ve had my share of falls since then and problems have caused me to almost give it all up. I look back on my mistakes and feel like my testimony has been tainted. But then I realize that I’m still alive and that God is still with me. Those shortcomings have also been humbling. Had I maintained that “perfection” so to speak I would have probably been full of myself. I would have probably felt like a super-Christian. But far away from that I’ve realized that I need God and that His word is true;
I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good besides You.” – Psalm 16:2
There’s no good for us outside of God. Unfortunately we have to experience life sometimes to realize that He’s not lying! There really isn’t any good for us outside of God. Once you’ve had an experience and you’ve felt His presence there’s nothing that will compare to that. You can run away as far as you want. You can move to a different state or try to fulfill yourself through other methods, but apart from Him you’ll always feel empty. God’s love is perfect and unconditional and once you’ve had a taste of His love nothing will come close to matching it. You might find temporary outlets but it’ll be just that, temporary.
God is Still With You
If you feel far away from God just know that He loves you and He’s still with you. We have to always compare and contrast opposing thoughts in our mind. Fear, anxiety, worthlessness, hopelessness, all these and a host of other thoughts are complete lies. None of those thoughts have a place in God’s plan for your life. Jesus said that the devil is a liar and that he came to kill, steal, and destroy but Christ came to give life abundantly.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. – John 10:10
If you’re having a battle of thoughts in your mind compare and contrast them to God’s word. God says He has plans of peace and not of evil for your life to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). God says He hasn’t given you a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). God says you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13). God says that if you’ve sinned you have an advocate in Jesus Christ (1 John 2:1). Anything outside of God’s word is a lie and must disregarded and rebuked. Remember that Jesus always already gave us the victory on the cross and we are free because of Him.
God is Faithful
Life takes us through peaks and valleys. Some valleys are really low and we might even feel like God has disowned us. But, tonight I just want to remind you that that isn’t the case. God is still with you. God still loves you. Everything that we go through has a purpose. All you need to do is have faith! Latch on to Christ and don’t let go.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: – Philippians 1:6
All the great men and women of God went through tough times. Joseph for example was sold into slavery by his own brothers. But, God hadn’t disowned him. God was with him through the process because He always had a plan with Joseph. Today God continues to have plans with you and I. Regardless of your circumstances God loves you and will fulfill His purpose in your life. Don’t give up and latch on to God’s promises. His word never comes back empty.
