Grateful for a New Day

The Bible talks about offering thanksgiving to God. In other words, to find reasons to thank Him. This is good because when we find reasons to thank God, we’ll conversely find less reasons to complain.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. – Phillippians 4:6

As humans we all go through ups and downs. But God is encouraging us to place all of our worries in His hands by praying about them. Along with our prayers and supplication, there must be giving of thanks. God isn’t a gumball machine that when you place your prayers in, a blessing will automatically come out. Can God give you blessings and miracles? Of course. But our eyes shouldn’t be focused on what God can do but on who God is.

How many of us are surrounded by people we love? I’m sure all of us have at least one person we deeply care about. As people we also want others to love us. But how would we want people to love us? For what we can offer them, or simply for being who we are? I think most of us would opt for the latter. It feels good to have someone love us for who we are. That’s unconditional love.

O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. – 1 Chronicles 16:34

God has been more than good to us. We can see it every morning when we open our eyes. It’s God’s way of telling us that He remembered us. Regardless of what you’re going through find reasons to thank God. There’s plenty if only we sit back and reflect on them.
