You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. – C.S. Lewis
Yesterday I finished a reading a book on the life and times of C.S. Lewis. You can find the book under my Books! tab on my Amazon storefront by clicking here. The book is titled “C.S. Lewis: The Greatest Lessons through the Inspiring Life of C.S. Lewis” by. Evander Watson. The book is full of inspirational and practical lessons. I found many of them useful and I am making an effort to apply them to my life.
One of the lessons that I found most inspiring was the one that I quoted above. “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” I love this quote because I just turned 27 this past Sunday. The years are flying by! And when I examine my life I realize that there’s much more that I want to accomplish. Sometimes the negative thoughts of, “You might be too old,” You should have started when you were younger,” start to creep into my mind. But I ask God to erase those thoughts.
Letting Go of our Fears
There’s things that we could have done years ago but fear or doubt caused us to give up on those dreams. But the good news is that our God is a God of opportunities. Even though we might feel like we missed out on past opportunities we can’t dwell on those things. If we let our past mistakes or missed opportunities occupy our mind we’ll be wasting our time. God wants us to get up today and realize that we don’t have a small God. Our God is the same God that was with the men and women of the Bible. Our God is the same God that was with Moses when he opened the Red Sea. He’s the same God that led His people out of Egypt into freedom with His mighty hand.
“It’s never too late to set a new goal or dream a new dream.” We all have fears from time to time because we’re human. One of those fears that has been on my mind as of late is the fear of wasting my youth. Regardless of your age, I don’t think any of us want to have regrets in our life. I personally don’t want to reach 60 or 70 and look back at life with the thought that, “I should and could have done that.” The fear of failure is another fear that plagues us. But so what if we fail? At least we tried. If we forget about the risk of failure and just go out and aim at greatness I’m sure we’ll look back at life with a different thought: “Hey, at least I gave it a shot.” Win or lose means more than not trying at all.
Dream Big because our God is Big
God has given us the capacity to dream and like my Pastor said, “The size of our dreams will depend on how we view God.” If we look at God as a miniature God, our dreams will be miniature according to our perspective on who we believe in. But if our perspective on God is one of greatness and grandeur than our dreams will be great.
Don’t give up on your dreams. Even if they seem far fetched or too big for you to accomplish, go for it! If people are succeeding without God imagine what we can accomplish with God by our side. God wants to manifest His kingdom through us.
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. – Romans 8:19
