December is Here: Let’s End the Year Strong

December is here and that means 2019 is right around the corner. It seems that each year seems to go by quicker and quicker. But we still have a month left and with that being said I think we can finish strong. Being completely honest with myself and the reader, consistency was seriously lacking in my work this year. Looking towards the new year I just want to be consistent with the material that is published here and throughout all the social media platforms that I use. Not only that but I also know that things can be done better and bigger. A couple weeks back I liked a word that my Pastor said. He said that our perspective on how big we dream will be aligned with how big we see God. If we think our God is small then our dreams will be small. But if we know that our God is great, then our dreams will share that perspective. I always recognize the fact that we’re not perfect as individuals. But that doesn’t mean we should let that limit the way we view things. Regardless of how we feel or see our circumstances it’s never too late to place our focus on God and trust His plan for our lives.

God has Good Plans for You

The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 that God knows the plans that He has for us; “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” So God has good plans for us and that’s good news! Each one of us has dreams and the hope for a better future. The good news is that God also shares that desire. That’s why we shouldn’t be afraid to give our lives to God. I remember when I first gave my life to Christ and was experiencing my first love with Him that the thought of sanctification scared me. Everything was smooth and life was good. My relationship with God was blossoming and everything just seemed right. But I remember being terrified of the word “sanctification” because I believed it meant that God was going to take things away from me that were dear to me. I thought, “If I go all in will God take away the people I love?” I know this seems childish and ignorant but it was a real thing in my life at that moment. But of course there’s nothing to fear. If God does want to remove something or someone from our lives it’s only because He knows that it’s best for us.

God’s plans are always better than our plans. This year is coming to an end and it’s always good to look back. Eleven months have come and gone and the prospect of a new year is upon us. That new year means a new start for a lot of us. But before we embark on that start why don’t we reflect on how good God has been this year? I know from personal experience that there were moments this year that I wish I hadn’t lived. Ups and downs that provided me with great joy and sadness. I know that we all have had great times and bad times. But it’s December 1st and we’re still here. God has been good and His mercy has truly been everlasting.

Closing Out the Year Seeking More of God and His Presence

We have a month to go before 2018 becomes another year in history. Why don’t we close it out by seeking more of God and His presence? Maybe we’ve lost people and things in our lives this year but in the end we can say that we’re still here. God has been good and His plans are good for us. It’s not always an easy path but one that’s definitely worth it. The world has nothing to offer our souls besides temporal pleasures followed by sadness and misery. God on the other hand offers us eternal life and treasures that the world can’t give us. Giving our lives to God is the best decision we can make. My Pastor always says that with God there are no defeats only victories.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. – Jeremiah 29:11
