Good morning! I hope you’re having a blessed day. It’s Monday, December 30, 2019; the last Monday of the year. 2019 is winding down and I always like to focus on the basics or at least what seems basic to us. I don’t know how you’re finishing your year. But one thing I do know is that we’re ending it alive and that alone is reason to be grateful. Some people didn’t make it to see the final days of this decade. But it’s important that we rejoice in the fact that we’re still here.
2019 has offered its fair share of good moments and bad. We all experience hardship, but we also experience times of joy and prosperity. Through it all God has remained faithful. His word hasn’t changed. Jesus promised to be with us all the days of our lives. To this day He still is.
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. – Matthew 28:20
I’m not sure what 2020 offers but I’m looking at it with optimism. Sometimes the devil wants to place negative thoughts in our mind and make us feel alone but we have to have faith. If it seems difficult to believe, than we have to take the example of the father seeking Jesus’ help for his dying child.
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. – Mark 9:23-24
I love this exchange between Jesus and this man whose child was possessed by an evil spirit. We don’t have to feel like super Christians. It’s okay to be honest with God. This man told Jesus that he believed, but to help his unbelief. There was a part of him that had a hard time believing, but he asked Jesus to help Him. Jesus went on to heal this man’s child.
2020 is a going to be a great year. Sure, it will also have its fair share of difficulties, but it’s going to be a great year nonetheless. Because as long as we have God on our side, the Bible says that all things work together for good. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. We’re closing out 2019 in victory and 2020 will be another year of victory.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. Psalms 27:13-14
