Remaining Hopeful in the Face of The Coronavirus Pandemic

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you’re having a great day. I know everything that is going on right now due to the coronavirus is chaotic. It started in a distant country and has now impacted our daily lives here in the United States. But I just want to remind you that God is still in control. No matter how chaotic the situation might be, the times are still in God’s hands. That’s why we shouldn’t fear. Instead of allowing this chaos to enter our minds and hearts we should look towards Christ as our refuge.

Fear comes to our lives because we’re human. No matter how strong you feel, you and I are still susceptible to fear and worry. But that’s okay, because we’re human and God understands this. But we don’t have to be fearless to confront these dire circumstances. We can look at God like David did and face the giants in our lives. We’re not alone in this battle, God is with us. Just like He gave David the victory that day, today He’ll give us the victory over anything we face.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. – Romans 8:37

News of the coronavirus pandemic is running rampant. Crowds are flocking to their local stores to store up on food and basic necessities. The masses are in a state of panic and fear. What once started as a smaller problem has blown up into a full scale global crisis. It’s strange and it almost feels like you’re living in a movie. But even though concern does creep in from time to time, we must remain hopeful.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. – John 16:33

Jesus said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” The outlook might look bleak right now, but we can rest assured that God has overcome. I don’t know how far this coronavirus crisis will drag on. I hope it ends soon. I do believe, however, that there will be changes in our world. Governments might enact new regulations and civil liberties might be violated. It’s unfortunate, but there’s comfort in knowing that Jesus already foresaw these things and warned us about them.

I don’t know how long this turmoil will last. What I do know is that God is still in control. That’s our comfort as Christians in knowing that God is that all things are in God’s hands. I think we should use this time as a wake up call. A call to get closer as families and communities. To educate ourselves on how the world works. Above all, a call to get closer to God because in the end He’s all that we need.
