One day Jesus told His disciples that in this world they would have tribulation, but to take courage, He has overcome the world. Jesus never promised us a care-free life. He never promised us a world free of worries and problems. On the contrary, Jesus asserts the fact that we will indeed have tribulation. But He comforts us right afterwards by saying, “be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. – John 16:33

With everything that’s going on in the world today, it’s easy to find ourselves fearful of the situation. A virus outbreak has pierced the hearts of many and injected them with fear and worry. But I want to remind you on this afternoon, that God hasn’t forgotten about you. No matter how turbulent the times may be, God remains in control of the boat. Our worry shouldn’t be on how great the storm is, but rather on if we are inside the boat to begin with.

The disciples were fearful when a storm raged out on sea. They were inside a boat and they were scared for their lives. Jesus, however, was inside the boat. He was sleeping while everyone else was in a state of panic. They ran to the Master and frantically woke Him up. When Jesus woke up He uttered these words to them:

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. – Matthew 8:26

The disciples were scared for their lives so much that they didn’t realize that the solution to their fear was inside the boat with them. When Jesus calmed the winds, the disciples were astonished. God’s glory was manifested that day. Today, God wants to manifest His glory once more.

I want to remind you of this truth; Jesus has overcome the world. The times we live in are dark and and full of uncertainty. People around all parts of the world are frantically running about seeking refuge and calm from the storm. But only Jesus can provide that peace. Won’t you come to Jesus today and obtain the peace that He gives? His arms are wide open. He doesn’t cast anybody away that comes to Him.
