In times of trouble we all seek refuge. If there’s a thunderstorm, we’ll run indoors to avoid the rain. As humans it’s in our nature to want to protect ourselves against adverse conditions. But how can we protect ourselves against the harsh conditions produced out of hardship and emotional circumstances? The answer is Jesus. With Him we can confidently say, “Jesus is my refuge.”
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1
We’re all prone to problems in life. Jesus never promised us an easy, painless life. Even He experienced hardship while walking this earth. If Jesus faced hardship, will we not face our fair share of problems? The truth is life will never be a walk in the park. Problems, like bumps on the road, will arise from time to time and test our character and faith.
But it’s not all doom and gloom. With God there is always a silver lining. Light at the end of the tunnel. Like the shade that a tree provides in an exceedingly hot day, God provides us with His unconditional love and protection. The comfort that we have as Christians is knowing that we are not alone. God is with us. When problems arise, when the waves and rain grow in intensity, we can look towards Jesus as our refuge.
Maybe you’re not a Christian. Maybe you somehow came across this blog and decided to read it. I want to let you know that with God there are no coincidences only purposes. God’s calling is to every person that is breathing. He doesn’t exclude people. The Bible says that His desire is for all to come to repentance and be saved.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9
If you’re not a Christian, I want to invite you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior today. This free gift of salvation is offered to everyone on Earth regardless of gender, race, age, or ethnicity. It’s a free gift, but just like any other gift, the person has to extend their arms and receive it. Would you ever reject a gift, especially one that’ll benefit your life on Earth and beyond?
We don’t have to deal with problems on our own. God offers us the refuge we desire in times of peace and in times of trouble. Everyday offers us the opportunity to get closer to God regardless of our current circumstances. The Bible says that God doesn’t cast out anyone that comes to Him. If you want to, today can be your day to either recieve Christ for the first time, or be reconciled with Him. God is good and His mercy is everlasting.
