We’re living in dark times and for many of us, fear is a very real thing. As humans we can’t help but feel a sense of dread when all we see on television is negative. But thankfully, there is hope. As Christians we know that our hope lies in a very real God. That is why we can lift up our heads and remain positive even in these dark times. Knowing this, it is our duty to share this hope with others. The world needs a word of hope.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. – 1 Peter 1:3-5
Dictionary.com defines duty as “something that one is expected or required to do by moral or legal obligation.” There’s been moments in my life where problems and sin have made me feel guilty and ashamed. But then I realize that it’s the enemy that wants to keep us silent. God has given us a word of hope. He’s sealed us with His Holy Spirit and we have the authority to declare a word of hope.
During these turbulent times, many in the world find themselves in a state of fear. People are panicking and there is real data that shows us that rates for suicides, depression, alcohol, and drug abuse are increasing at alarming rates. People are being overcome with a sense of hopelessness and despair. Their souls long for peace and comfort. It is our duty to share a word of hope with them.
It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones. – Proverbs 3:8
The Gospel is the medicine that the world needs right now. Someone told me earlier that there is a cure; the blood. “The blood still works,” she told me. I couldn’t agree anymore. The blood still has power to save all those that cry out to God. These moments of adversity need to be the catalyst that drive us towards Christ. Only in Jesus can we find the solution to our problems. The Bible says that in Him we have peace that surpasses all knowledge.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7
Instead of focusing on the division that is tearing our society apart, we need to focus on uniting through the Gospel. The times are bad but there is hope in Jesus. Television and political leaders might be giving us bad news, but in God there is nothing but good news. Sickness might be in the air but the Bible tells us that by His wounds we are healed.
The world needs a word of hope. As Christians we know that real hope is found in Jesus alone. We need to preach the word because there’s a world that is desperate for healing and comfort. God has called us to be light in the darkness. You can be the light in someone’s life and God will glorify Himself. We’re not perfect individuals but God has called us to live out a supernatural purpose.
