The Bible says, “I can do all things through Him who strenghtens me.” We don’t have to live defeated lives. The only one who has been defeated is the devil himself. But you and I have been given the victory through Jesus Christ. We have been sealed by His Holy Spirit. The Bible says that God has delegated power and authority to His children. You and I, if we have received Christ as our Lord and Savior, have been adopted into His family. We are children of the Most High and we don’t walk alone.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. – John 1:12-13
God hasn’t called us to fight our battles alone. He hasn’t called us to strive for our dreams alone. We have a helper in God. One of the biggest takeaways from yesterday’s preaching was when the Pastor referenced the the story of the walls of Jericho. God had called Joshua and His people to go around the city seven times. On the seventh day, God would bring down the walls. It wasn’t Joshua or the people that destroyed the walls. No. It was God. Joshua simply obeyed the word. That’s what we need to do; obey God.
Sometimes we feel like we’re alone or that we have to do everything on our own. That’s not the case. God is asking us to our part and to allow Him to the rest. When God called Moses, Moses questioned Him (Exodus 3 and 4). How could He serve Him if he couldn’t talk properly? God reminded Him that it’s Him who would put the words in His mouth. Moses wasn’t called to do things on his own. God simply wanted him to obey Him so that He could be the one working through Moses. Moses was able to fulfill his calling. He was able to do all things through Christ who strengthened him.
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. – John 14:23
Today God wants us to look at the examples set by the men and women of the Bible. They obeyed the word and dared to walk in faith. Even though they experienced hardship, they were never alone. They had the backing of God. God manifested His glory in men and women that were willing to answer the call. You and I can answer the call today. We can take a leap of faith and believe that we can do all things through Him who strengthens us.
