The Mercy and Grace that Injects Hope

Everyday we wake up we embark on our daily tasks. Work, school, or simply running errands at work. These things occupy our daily living. Sometimes we face hardship. Other times we fall victim to our sinful nature and feel the weight of guilt and shame weighing us down. But oftentimes we forget about God’s mercy and grace that showers us from the very moment we open our eyes.

Waking up should be reason enough to thank God. He thought about you and me and gave us a new opportunity. A new day to right our wrongs and to reach for our dreams. We should be mindful of this fact and realize that waking up is a blessing. When we remember this truth, we’ll be able to endure the hardships and pitfalls of life. If you’re awake it’s because God has had mercy on you and because of His grace you and I are here.

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23

There’s no hiding the fact that life is full of problems. I think none of us enjoy this harsh reality. But it’s exactly that; a reality. We shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves when we fall victim to our sinful nature. Instead, remember that God still has you breathing. The Bible says that as long as there is breath in our lungs, there is hope. Take a moment to repent of your sins and to thank God for his forgiveness. God’s desire isn’t for us to perish, but rather for us to have a relationship with Him and be saved.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1:9

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9

Jesus paid a big price to demonstrate His love. His crucifixion was a demonstration of His unconditional love. But it was also the only way for us to be saved. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. Someone had to pay the price. You and I deserve death. Not only a physical death, but a spiritual one as well. But God, out of His mercy and grace stepped down from His throne and paid the price for us.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. – Romans 6:23

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. – 2 Corinthians 5:21

God is good and His mercy is everlasting. I’m not sure what you’re going through but I know that God still has a purpose with your life. You’re not on this earth out of pure coincidence and you are not a mistake. God, the almighty living God, has known you since before you were born. You’re in good hands when you’re with God. So don’t allow the negativity in life to hold you down. Remember that God loves you and that will never change.

You know how they say that when you say “but” it erases everything you just said before that? It just hit me that that’s how God is. I was a sinner “but God” saved me. I was lost, “but God” had mercy on me. I was sick, “but God” healed me. God gives our life a positive “but” and when He comes in, He erases everything that came before that. This should empower us. If you had a bad day, if you’re sick, if you sinned, remember to add “BUT GOD” after that sentence and declare the word of God over your life and family.
