There’s only a couple days left before we bid 2023 farewell and welcome 2024. Just like that another year is coming to a close. It seems like the older we get, the faster life passes us by. This makes me want to enjoy life even more. To cherish the moments we have with our loved ones and the new experiences that God has for us. The death of a loved one also alters our mindset even further. You come to realize that time is fleeting and that each day is truly an opportunity to make the most of life.
I am aware that my relationship with God isn’t what it used to be. It’s nowhere near where it should be. To be completely transparent, my relationship with Him is seriously lacking. Besides thanking Him for my meals and the occasional prayer and reading of the Word, I haven’t done much to strengthen my relationship to God. But, my hope and my intent is for that to change in the new year. I’m not sure of where you find yourself in your own personal relationship with God. But, I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts and to hopefully encourage ourselves to delve into the well of living water.
God is good and His mercy is everlasting. This is evident by the fact that you and I are still alive and breathing. Perhaps our relationship with God isn’t where it should be. But, His words ring true and that is that His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness.
The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end, For His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23
The New Year is quickly approaching. I think it’s never too late to make a decision to seek Christ. I know that we are imperfect human beings with faults and vices that make it difficult for us to stay consistent. It’s happened to me plenty of times. But setting up the goal to seek Him is worthwhile. I learned a while back that sometimes we have to live life one day at a time. The Bible itself says that each day has enough trouble of its own. My hope is that in the New Year you and I will get closer to God and have a worthwhile relationship without Heavenly Father.
“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:34
