A Living Hope

A living hope, christian blog post, christianity today, hope in Jesus, trusting in Jesus, God loves me, God loves you, seeking God

Hello and God bless you! I hope you’re having a great day. But, maybe you’re not. I want to take this moment to encourage you in the middle of your circumstances. We all go through various troubles in life. This life in general is not easy whether you’re a believer or not. But one thing that separates us as believers is the fact that Jesus resurrected from the dead and we have a living hope. I respect others and their beliefs, but let’s be honest, who else has a risen Savior? We do. Jesus has risen from the dead and given us a living hope.

Personal Inconsistencies

I know it’s been a while since I’ve shown any signs of consistent posting. Over these past few years I’ll post maybe once or twice a year. I’ll be completely honest with you, I went through a rough patch. And I have to admit, this was an extended rough patch. I distanced myself from God. I grew cold and my relationship with God suffered. I stopped praying, I stopped reading the Word, I stopped going to church. I grew apathetic. But all this negligence eventually caught up to me. Because I found myself in a rut. I felt so alone and depressed until God’s mercy allowed me to cry out to Him. I’m thankful because I can honestly say that God heard my cry. I’m in a better place because God is good and His mercy is everlasting.

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the adversary..” – Psalm 107:1-2

Jesus Saw You

I want to remind you that no matter how crappy you may feel right now God is still with you. I know that life isn’t easy. I’ve had my fair share of low moments. But you know what? God loves you. I was driving one morning and the feelings of guilt and shame were not letting me worship God. That’s what sin does to us. It crushes our spirit and makes us feel low, unworthy, and unloved. The enemy wants us there so that he can prey on us. But I remember something in me told me to push myself to worship and pray and so I did. I started praying and singing along to worship music. Suddenly, the image of Jesus looking at me in my shame and guilt came to my mind and I broke down crying.

Imagine being that one loner at school sitting alone in the cafeteria while everyone else has their group of friends. Imagine feeling ugly and dirty because of your sin and feeling like you’re the worst human being on earth. No one could possibly love you in this condition, right? But the good news is that Jesus does love you. Jesus set His eyes on you and reached out his hand to help you. Jesus sat down with you when everyone else turned their back on you. God is good because no matter how insignificant we may feel, we are significant to Him. Jesus cared about you and continues to care about you to this day.

God Loves You!

I want to encourage you by reminding you that we have a living hope in Jesus. Perhaps you’re experiencing a great time in life and that’s great. Or maybe you’re going through a difficult time and don’t see a way out. There is a way out and His name is Jesus. The Bible says that we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Nothing we do can merit favor from God. But Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, took our sins at the Cross, and resurrected on the third day. That’s why in our anguish and sorrow we can look towards Christ for hope. Because it’s not about us, it’s about Him. Jesus conquered and in Him we have a living hope.

God bless you! My hope through these posts is that God can use me to reach others for Him. I’m not perfect. But I’m grateful because “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16).” This is the Gospel that God wants us to preach. I’m no one, but I know that God is someone and He loves you just as much as He loves me. God’s desire, the Bible says, is for no one to perish. God wants to save you.

“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9

I hope that this post is a blessing to you and remember that we are in this together. The enemy came to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give life and give it in abundance (John 10:10). No matter how dark your night is, there is light in the morning. Don’t give up because Jesus didn’t give up on you when He suffered the Cross.

“For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:6-8
