The great men of the Bible encountered many trials. But through every trial they faced, they were secured in God’s hands. Today, God continues to provide this security for His children. You and I are secured in God’s hands and the Bible says that no one can take us out of His hands.
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. – John 10:28
Before Jesus departed to heaven He told His disciples that He would be with them all the days of their life. Sometimes we forget about this promise. We act as if God said He would only be with us on the good days. But Jesus didn’t say that. He said He would be with us all the days of our life. That means on the good days and bad days. Rain or shine, God’s promise still holds true.
For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. – Malachi 3:6
The men of the Bible experienced good moments too. Job was a wealthy man and enjoyed the many blessings of God. He had a big family, farms, workers, everything was going well for Job. God had been faithful and Job was faithful too. Then it came tumbling down one day. The Lord gave the devil permission to take away the blessings God had given Job.
That’s an important point to remember that God gave the devil permission. The enemy can’t do anything unless God permits it. In the midst of your problems remember that God is still in control. And the Bible also says that all things work together for good, for those that love God. If you love God, then you have the assurance that all things are working together for your good. Job knew this when he received the news of his losses.
Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. – Job 1:20-21
Even though Job may have felt heartache as a human, he understood that God was still in control. He knew who his God was. Job’s faith was unmoved. He acknowledged this when he was wise enough to realize that just like God had given blessings to him, He could also take them away. But through it all Job maintained his faith and demonstrated his love for God regardless of whether or not he had anything from Him.
Today God wants to remind that He is still faithful. His promises have not changed. The same God that was with you yesterday is still with you today, and will be with you tomorrow. No matter how great the winds of a storm are, we must be like the palm tree, rooted in our faith. As long as we continue to believe in God, we can rest assured that we are secured in God’s hands.
